Eight-year-old Molly is a girl in the prime of her life. She is a smart girl but she doesn’t like school very much, especially not math, and certainly not her dull teacher, Ruthie, who is also stern and quite mean. So Molly and her best friend, Fia, make the joint decision to quit school. They will only attend one more day, as not to miss woodwork class, their favourite subject. But the next day does not turn out as they imagined. Ruthie had a fall, and broke both legs and an arm. In her place, a curious substitute teacher, Saga Bloom arrives, and nothing is ever the same. Everything is different, and so much better; so much more fun, but also more peculiar.
