Bears, owls, lemmings, dogs they are all actors in Frida Fjellman's artistic universe. As a ceramicist and glass artist, she has created her own expression, where the animals are both bearers of human characteristics and independent individuals beyond human logic.
The animals in Frida Fjellman's work are realistic, but artistically processed and inserted in a scenographic context as actors in a narrative structure. It is a strategy that has made Frida Fjellman into one of Sweden's most celebrated artists internationally, regardless of genre and material. In the first book on Frida Fjellman's work, we get access to a familiar as well as alien world, where ancient myths meet contemporary aesthetic expressions.
In her artistic works, Fjellman transcends the old artistic categories by combining arts and crafts, visual arts, scenography and interior design. The book Frida Fjellman contains a newly written essay by critic and author Bo Madestrand, as well as a number of recent photographs by Patrick Miller, while Patric Leo did the graphic design.
